Sorrowful Mysteries — 1 / 5

The Agony in the Garden

Fruit: Sorrow for Sin / Conformity to God's Will

What Happens

Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, overwhelmed with sorrow, knowing the suffering that awaits Him. He surrenders to the Father's will: "Not my will, but yours be done."

What It Teaches Us

Jesus shows us how to face fear and suffering: through honest prayer and surrender to God. Even the Son of God needed to pray in His darkest hour.

Scripture Reading

Jesus went with his disciples to Gethsemane and prayed: "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as you will."
